Microsoft Edge Dev is updated to version 102.0.1235.1

We return to talk about Microsoft Edge as it received a new update in the Dev channel, the second of the week. We love to tell you about the news of Edge, which is already the second browser with the highest share among users. The Redmond giant was able to recover the lost ground. This time we have version 103.0.1253.0 ready for you to download and we’ll tell you what’s new.

Microsoft Edge Dev is updated to version 103.0.1253.0

Features added in Edge

  • Added the ability to pin installed PWAs/websites as apps to the taskbar from their menus….
  • Enabled by default the ability to search the History popup using natural language (e.g. “Last week’s Youtube”).
  • Added an admin policy in Edge 103.0.1253.0 to set Internet Explorer mode zoom display type, which controls whether the browser zoom level takes the current display scale into account like IE did (e.g. if the display scale is set to 150%, IE’s default zoom level would display 150%). Note that updates to the documentation and administrative templates may not have happened yet.

Performance improvement

  • Fixed a crash on startup.
  • Fixed a crash when visiting certain websites.
  • Fixed a crash when adding items to collections.
  • Fixed a crash when switching profiles on the Edge bar.
  • Fixed a crash in WebView2 apps when adding text to the status bar (Issue 2414).

Behavior improvements

  • Temporarily disabled the search box in the Alerts and Advisories popup in version 103.0.1253.0.
  • Fixed an issue where the browser sometimes does not respond to links clicked from other applications if it is not already open.
  • Mitigated an issue where the browser does not appear in the foreground if minimized when clicking on a Windows Action Center notification.
  • Fixed an issue where previously opened tabs would sometimes reset when first opening the browser, even though they shouldn’t.
  • Fixed an issue with incorrect color of vertical tabs when using custom themes.
  • Fixed an issue where the Find on Page UI appears red.
  • Fixed an issue where navigator.mediaCapabilities sometimes incorrectly reported decoding websites.
  • Fixed an issue where pop-ups or application windows opened from IE mode tabs do not resize automatically when they are supposed to.
  • Fixed an issue in WebView2 applications where the on-screen keyboard sometimes did not appear (Issue 460).

Known bugs in this release

  • Users of some ad blocking extensions may experience playback errors on Youtube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback to continue.
  • Some users still have an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with the STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is outdated anti-virus or security software from vendors such as Symantec, and in these cases updating that software will fix the problem.
  • Kaspersky Internet Suite users who have installed the associated extension may sometimes see web pages such as Gmail not loading. This error is caused because Kaspersky’s main software is outdated, so it is solved by ensuring that the latest version is installed.
  • Some users experience “jittery” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens. Here, scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to scroll subtly in the other. Please note that this only affects certain websites and appears to be worse on some devices. This is likely related to ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy behavior. So if this behavior is not desirable, we can temporarily disable it. Disabled the edge://flags/#edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
