While waiting for the materialization of this still very distant (and hypothetical) fantasy that is the metaverse, Meta (ex-Facebook) is well aware that the primary use of virtual reality will remain, in the short or medium term, the video game. It is in this capacity that the company held the new edition of the Quest Gaming Showcase on April 20, an online broadcast of around thirty minutes presenting some of the titles to be released soon on its Quest 2 standalone headset.
And this “soon” is not a way of speaking: from the start of the game, Meta has explained and claimed to only mention in this presentation games whose release is expected by the end of the year. . This explains the absence of certain major titles whose existence we already know, but which are still probably only in the first stages of their development, like the games Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell expected at Ubisoft or even the VR remake of grand theft auto san andreas.
Virtually betray your friends in Among Us VR
What we did have, however, was news ofAmong Us VRan immersive version of the multiplayer game phenomenon of 2020, whose conversion into virtual reality is mainly ensured by the specialists of Schell Games (I Expect You to Die 1 and 2). Release planned for the end of the year.

Another illustrious representative of the VR porting category, Resident Evil 4 has already been available on Quest 2 since last October, but it is once again being talked about thanks to an update bringing it the mode Mercenariesa series of challenges asking to eliminate as many infected as possible in a limited time, with a purely arcade orientation and scoring. The good surprise: this update is available now and free of charge for all owners of the base game.

Besides that, the show mainly gave us to see sequels to titles that made the heyday of the “first generation” of VR games. The Polyarc studio thus took advantage of the event to confirm that after its very recent return to PlayStation VR, the little Quill mouse will also reappear on Quest 2 with the release this summer of Moss Book II.
Back to business also for Skydance Interactive, Vertical Robot and Digital Lode studios, with the announcements respectively of the survival horror The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2from the narrative adventure game RedMatter 2 and the shooter and infiltration game spire 2.

For its part, the Stress Level Zero team has finally revealed its long-awaited fourth project, which will therefore be called bonelab. Successor to the hugely popular boneworks of 2019, the title will be a first-person platformer / combat game presenting itself as a kind of large sandbox with ultra-pushed physical interactions. It will also be fully open to mods and promises to become a prolific experimentation laboratory in the hands of players, as its name suggests.
Ghostbusters VR as the event of the year
Finally, the presentation obviously could not end without the appearance of Mark Zuckerberg himself, who came to introduce the highlight of the show: Ghostbusters VR. Very free adaptation of the license Ghostbusters, the game does not follow the plot of any of the films in particular and offers players the opportunity to live their own adventure within a team of ghost hunters in San Francisco. This game can be played solo or cooperatively with up to three players. It is developed by nDreams (Phantom Covert Ops, Fracked) in collaboration with the Sony Pictures Virtual Reality organization.
